'Planet Coaster 2' Is Coming Fall 2024
It’s summer in the Northern Hemisphere, so it’s only natural that a summery announcement comes to us all from Frontier Games. At long last, the “sequel” to 2016’s spiritual successor to the old Roller Coaster Tycoon games, Planet Coaster, is coming, and it’s coming this fall!
In an announcement posted on X, linked to their official website, Frontier announced Planet Coaster 2, with a smattering of updates and features that fans have long been asking for. The first and most prominent feature is the water rides! Planet Zoo, which came after Planet Coaster, seemed to be a testing ground for water-based attractions when they released several DLC that featured water-based animals. Now, their new theme park builder will feature water rides, pools, lazy rivers, and the works!

Another new feature they’re finally including is an upgrade to the path-building mechanics so players can finally build plazas. In Planet Coaster and Planet Zoo, players had to get creative in their path building to make wide open areas for people to sit and eat or relieve congestion. That no longer seems to be the issue.
The announcement on their website also highlights working with friends online to build parks together and compete in Franchise mode, including a first-time first-person mode to walk around the park and experience your creations like you were really there!
Planet Coaster 2 releases this fall on all major platforms.
