Ryan Reynolds Is Not Allowed To Improvise While ‘Deadpool 3’ Films During The Writer’s Strike

The ongoing strike between the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) claims another creative casualty as Yahoo reports Ryan Reynold is not able to legally improvise lines while filming the third installment of the Deadpool franchise. Much of the success of Deadpool and Deadpool 2 is accredited to Reynold’s adlibbing snarky comments keeping in line with the successful comic book hero.

This unfortunate loophole was discovered as Reynolds is listed as a producer on the film, being a member of the WGA, which has asked all members to withhold any actions to be considered “writer-like” during the strike. If someone were to report Reynolds to the WGA, many believe an argument can be made he is fulfilling his duties as an actor and producer on the project.

This is not the first affected project within the Marvel Cinematic Universe due to the strike. A number of weeks ago, Marvel announced halting production on the upcoming films Blade and Thunderbolts due to scripts for these productions needing to be completed. And fans are concerned about how this will affect the finished film, as Reynold’s improvised dialogue has become a signature characteristic of the Merc With The Mouth.

As the strike enters its fourth week, fans can only hope the WGA and AMPTP can come to an amenable solution sooner rather than later, as Deadpool 3 is set to release on November 8, 2024.
