Thanks To A Deal With Lionsgate, Hit Movies Like 'John Wick 4' And 'The Expendables 4' Will Stream For Free On The Roku Channel
Roku has struck a new deal with Lionsgate, a massive entertainment production company. The deal gives The Roku Channel streaming rights for the company’s theatrical releases after a specified amount of time for the next few years. This means that films including John Wick: Chapter 4, Borderlands, and White Bird: A Wonder Story will be streamable for free, as the platform has a free-with-ads model.
The titles won’t be hitting The Roku Channel immediately. The films will first have a theatrical release before coming to Starz. Following the time on Starz, the content hits The Roku Channel. The details indicate that this deal encompasses all Lionsgate theatrical productions for the near future. The length of time these films will be streaming for is currently undisclosed; it could vary depending on the title, however, time will tell. Following this cycle, the films have the potential to be acquired by larger services.
