'The Legend Of Vox Machina' Season Two Soundtrack Is Getting Vinyl Release
The Dungeons & Dragons group, Critical Role, has blown up in the past few years as tabletop gaming has seen increased attention and star-studded endorsements. The Thursday night live-play group smashed records when they originally announced the Kickstarter for an animated show based on their first campaign The Legend of Vox Machina, which was then quickly snatched up by Amazon Studios. After a successful first season, the show was quickly renewed for a second season, and a third is currently in the works.
As a testament to the show’s popularity, Lakeshore Records is partnering with The Legend of Vox Machina to release a special edition vinyl of the season two soundtrack. It will consist of two purple and gold vinyl records, both held in a gatefold sleeve with full-color inner sleeves and liners, as well as beautifully decorated with the characters on the cover.

Season two’s orchestral score is done by long-time composer Neal Acree. Acree is a veteran of the gaming space for music, having worked on games like Diablo, Overwatch, and World of Warcraft. He also composed for the longest-running science fiction series Stargate: SG-1.
The soundtrack features the typical grand epic pieces that accompany fantasy settings, but also the original songs that are made up by the character Scanlan Shorthalt, played by Sam Riegel. Riegel collaborated with Peter Habib of Mr. Fantastic, a musical production company.
The vinyl will be released on May 31. Visit the Lakeshore Records website for information on how to obtain it.
