The Star Of 'Mortal Kombat' Shares An Exciting Update About The Follow-Up Film
Video game-based movies are always a hot topic, and with the success of the first installment of the Mortal Kombat series the topic remains so. The 86% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes speaks for itself; this movie held its own in the pandemic-stricken media scene in theaters and through digital streaming. Any news that comes out regarding the sequel is more than welcome, and some information has already come.
Certain projects at Warner Bros. have been put on pause or suspension particularly due to the merging efforts with Discovery Inc. An interview between actor Lewis Tan and ComicBook.com’s Brandon Davis has put fears to rest regarding the Mortal Kombat sequel, stating “it impacts a lot, but not really us in particular because New Line is the studio that is under the branch of Warner Bros.”

Tan confirms the state of the movie in this interview,
“We're full steam ahead. And now, we have Ed Boon with us as well, so we got the stamp of approval from the legend himself. #2 is just going to be absolutely insane. Way bigger."
It was announced earlier this year that the director of the first movie, Simon McQuoid, would be returning for the sequel.
Not much else is known about the movie, plot details and current development are being kept under wraps. However, with a title as old as Mortal Kombat, there’s plenty of content to develop. From what is known, it will meet or exceed the standards of the original installment.
