With only a few episodes left, the stars of The Walking Dead came to New York Comic-Con to say thank you to the fans, and as Lauren Cohen (Maggie) put it was “here to celebrate the end of something special”. The cast reminisced and teased future spin-offs that are sure to keep fans of the universe happy for the foreseeable future.

Chris Hardwick (host of AMC’s The Talking Dead) helped moderate the emotional farewell and helped the cast go thru some of their favorite moments and interesting stories that happened behind the scenes. One notable story was how Scott Gimple (former writer and showrunner) had to leave a note: I work for The Walking Dead so that the hotel staff realized the bloody clothes in his room were props and not the result of a murder. Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon) reminisced about his former co-star Micheal Rooker (Merle Dixon) and the many crossbows he had taken and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Neegan) expressed how a three-year gig became an incredible eight-year adventure that was “one hell of a ride”.

The crew also teased the three upcoming spinoffs including Dead City featuring Maggie and Negan, a Daryl Dixon series set in France, and a series that will give us the conclusion of Rick and Michonne’s story. Jeffrey promised fans will love the unlikely duo’s next adventure that is set in the Northeast. Norman promised an adventure (set in France) that was epic in scale and that the show will have a different look and sound. He promised a few familiar faces but was tight-lipped on any specifics. Fans have longed to speculate Rick’s fate but next year will finally get an answer when he and Michonne reunite and hopefully answer the question of where he has been the last few seasons. Rick disappeared at the beginning of season nine and Michonne shortly after in the middle of season ten.

Scott was careful to not let any spoilers slip but promised “it all comes together” and that fans would be content when they learn what it all meant and that the journey these characters went on would not be in vain.
