Rising young actor Timothee Chalament (Dune, Wonka) shocked and surprised his fans last Sunday when he appeared unannounced at a Timothee Chalamet Look-Alike Contest around the Washington Street Arch in New York City.

The event drew 2,600 people, both participants and spectators, who responded to posters around the city promising $50 for the best Timothee Chalamet impersonator. Participants channeled several of his previous and upcoming characters, such as Wonka and Bob Dylan. Chalamet was filming a movie in New York City, Marty Supreme, co-starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Sandra Bernhard, and Fran Drescher when he decided to drop by the contest.

NYPD eventually showed up at the event to disperse the gathering into a secondary location and arrested at least one Chalament look-a-like named Gilbert in the process. The remaining fans got to meet and spend time with Chalamet as he viewed his various doppelgangers.

Marty Supreme (plot under wraps) is still in production. Chalamet’s upcoming Bob Dylan biopic about the famous rock singer, A Complete Unknown, co-starring Elle Fanning and Edward Norton, is expected to hit theaters on Christmas Day this year.
