Warhammer has grown as a franchise, reaching beyond the various games and the books, and now has a copious amount of merchandise and other ways to express one’s interest in the brand. As part of this continued expansion off the tabletop, new posable action figures related to the Horus Heresy brand of Warhammer 40,000 were revealed on February 6th.
These detail-rich figures, each standing around 7.5 inches tall and featuring 28 points of articulation, all come from the XX (20th) Legion, the Alpha Legion, with one figure representing the group’s public leader, Alpharius, alongside a Saboteur Consul and a huge Contemptor Dreadnought.
The Alpha Legion are well-known spies and saboteurs in 40K, once serving the interests of the Emperor of Mankind, before the betrayal of Horus the Warmaster led the Alpha Legion to join him…or did they? The Alpha Legion was a highly opaque organization well before the Heresy began, with their leader actually being two figures, Alpharius and his identical twin brother Omegon. The Legion both acted for and against the interests of Horus at different points during the Heresy, though in the modern 40K setting, are overall considered traitors to the Imperium of Man.
This release of action figures joins others from JOYTOY of various other Horus Heresy characters, including Horus, Rogal Dorn, Magnus, and Sanguinius, four Primarchs of 40K’s Legions of Space Marines. All three Alpha Legion action figures are available to preorder, with a special bonus t-shirt available while supplies last.
