Writing Credits For 'Ahsoka' Revealed Online, Season Is Eight Episodes

The writing credits for Ahsoka, the Star Wars mini-series coming out in the fall, have been revealed according to a Reddit post. Dave Filoni, the show’s creator and one of the executive producers, is credited with each episode. This also confirms that this season will have eight episodes in total. The IMDb page for the series corroborates the number of episodes, and an interview Filoni did with Collider confirms the writing credits.
In the same Collider interview, Filoni confirms that you “wouldn’t need to watch any” of Star Wars: Rebels to understand the plot of Ahsoka. He wrote the show while “trying to be aware of” the fact that not everyone has seen it and that an animated series may not be everyone’s jam.

Many fans lovingly refer to the show as season 5 of Filoni’s Star Wars: Rebels, as many characters and the overarching bad guy of the series come from the animated show. Characters like Sabine Wren and Ezra Bridger were protagonists for Rebels. Another protagonist, a lasat named Zeb, recently made a live-action appearance in The Mandalorian season 3. The last time Thrawn was seen in a show or movie was in the series finale of Rebels, his and Ezra’s fate being unspecified as they shot into space with the help of purrgil.
The particular plot details are being kept firmly under wraps so far in typical Disney/Lucasfilm fashion. As the release window creeps closer crumbs of the plot will likely be released, as will new promotional content.
Ahsoka will be released in August 2023, however, a specific date hasn’t been announced yet. It will stream on Disney+, likely in a week-by-week format. Set sometime after The Mandalorian season two, the story will be a driving one rather than one-off adventures. The titular character investigates “an emerging threat” to a galaxy still in a vulnerable phase.
