Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is the newest and, most likely, final film in the Indiana Jones franchise. It will be the last time fans will see Harrison Ford as the beloved Dr. Indiana Jones. The final film has the same charm, humor, and adventure as the original films, with a much more experienced Indiana Jones. This film was a great send-off for such an iconic character.

The film takes fans on a wild ride from the beginning. The very beginning of the film gives us a young Indy, thanks to some de-aging CGI. He gets captured by the Nazis after trying to take back a relic they stole. Action ensues, with Indy escaping from the Nazis, with his good friend, Basil Shaw. It then transports us to 1969, with a much older Indiana Jones. He is retiring from his role as a professor when he goes on one last adventure, thanks to his goddaughter, Helena Shaw. Together, they team up to get back the Dial of Destiny before the Nazis can use it to go back in time and make the world theirs. The movie, like the ones before it, takes us to many different places in the world. It even features the familiar map transitions that were used in the previous films. Strangely, the story, at times, is a bit crazy and is almost a bit like Doctor Who. These movies have always had some crazy stories in them, and that’s what makes these films so special.

Harrison Ford has not lost his charm as Indiana Jones. He plays the character the same way he always has, just a bit more grumpy and older. There are some scenes where he shows his age. It is refreshing to see an older hero, and especially one so many are familiar with, be allowed to age but still kick butt at the end of the day.  We also get to see a more vulnerable Indy trying to find his place. The entire cast shines, and is one of the best parts of the movie. Pheobe Waller-Bridge was incredible as Helena Shaw and was a welcome addition. She could give Indy a run for his money at some points, but she never took the glory away from him. John Rhys Davies reprises his role as Sallah, who was wonderful to see once again. Toby Jones is back as Basil Shaw as well, who was a welcome callback. However, the best cameo was a very special one at the end and helped end the story of Indiana Jones in the best way.

Indiana Jones has a history with Nazis, and this movie is no different. The Nazi’s plans never go their way, and that’s a good thing. These Nazis were particularly brutal in this movie, especially compared to the ones in the original films. It’s always great to see the Nazis get what's coming to them and see their plans blow up in their face, thanks to Indiana Jones. Mads Mikkelsen played Jurgen Voller, who would stop at nothing to retrieve the Dial of Destiny. He played the role extremely well, and it was satisfying to see him get the ending he deserved.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is a fun adventure film and a great send-off to the character of Indiana Jones. John Williams once again did an amazing score for what is his final film score. The one issue is that it was a bit too long. While it needed to build up and tell a story, there were definitely some moments that could've been shortened. This, however, does not take away from the magic and fun the rest of the film brings. This movie will make any Indiana Jones fan smile with the various callbacks and characters, and fans may even shed a tear or two. While it’s not the best Indiana Jones film, it still has the same feeling as the classic films. It's the perfect Indiana Jones film to say goodbye to this beloved character and a must-see for any Indiana Jones fan.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is now playing in theaters everywhere.
