Dave Filoni And Jon Favreau Discuss The Possibility Of Kelleran Beq Returning To 'The Mandalorian'
During Season 3 of The Mandalorian, fans got to see the rescue operation that took Grogu away from the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. The leader of that operation was Kelleran Beq – as portrayed by Ahmed Best. The flashback ended with a jump to hyperspace, but is there more to that journey still to come?
As part of the Dagobah Dispatch podcast, Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau talked about bringing Best onto the show and how “it’s always a possibility” for Best to return in the future. “We come up with these ideas and we think: Who might this work with?” Filoni detailed. “We make sure before we get too far to bring them into the process, so it’s not just like, ‘Here’s who you’re going to play.’ It’s like, ‘What do you think of this? We want you to be this person. What are your thoughts on it?’” The idea is to make it a collaboration between the actor and director so that the character truly fits.

As for the future, Filoni said, “We love Ahmed, and he did such a great job. It was a real thrill for us to get him involved.” And he could continue to be involved, as Favreau commented, “I think people dig seeing that character. I want to learn more about that character.”
With Jedi Temple Challenge, the Star Wars-themed game show where the character of Kelleran Beq first appeared, being non-canon, his introduction to the canon with The Mandalorian could bring more exploration of his character. Though before we get any backstory to the character, it would be nice to see the rest of his journey with Grogu. Perhaps in Season 4.
