Due to the ongoing writers’ strike, Disney is delaying the release of many of their movies by at least a year.

Among these various delays are the live-action Moana (moved to June 27, 2025), Deadpool 3 (moved from Nov. 8, 2024 to May 3, 2024), an as of yet unrevealed Star Wars movie (pushed to Dec. 18, 2026), the third Avatar movie (delayed to Dec. 19, 2025), the fourth Avatar film (delayed to Dec. 21, 2029), and the fifth Avatar installment (delayed to Dec. 19, 2031). Based on this timeline, this movie saga will span a whopping twenty-two years.

These delays happen in the midst of various production delays, and the WGA strike going on at the moment. It is unknown how long this strike will last, but given that the last major strike lasted 3 months and 8 days, we could be here for a while.

Of course, there are still plenty of movies coming our way, so don’t expect to be completely left out by this whole shebang. These aren’t the only Disney movies being delayed, as there are several more. For more information about the WGA strike, check out the various articles on the subject right here at Culture Slate.
