Marvel has parted ways with Jonathon Majors after being found guilty of assault and harassment. Appearing in court, a New York jury convicted Majors of one count of reckless assault in the 3rd degree during a domestic dispute with his former girlfriend, and a non-criminal charge of harassment as a violation. He was acquitted on one count of aggravated harassment and another assault charge.

Beginning on December 4, the trial focused upon the domestic dispute in March, where former girlfriend Grace Jabbari took Majors’ phone from him on seeing a text from another woman, to which he “didn’t hesitate to use physical violence.” Grabbing her right hand, twisting that arm behind her back in an attempt to get the phone back, and striking a blow to her head. Other evidence provided during the trial matches Jabbari’s testimony that Majors was abusive throughout their relationship.

Majors did not comment on the media upon leaving the courthouse on December 18, having listened to the verdict with a straight face. Priya Chaudhry, an attorney for Majors, said in a statement that he “still has faith in the process and looks forward to fully clearing his name.”

Jabbari’s attorneys said in their statement, “We are gratified to see justice served by today’s guilty verdict. Ms. Jabbari testified publicly and truthfully, even though reliving these traumatic events on the witness stand was obviously painful. We are grateful to the jurors and the Judge for their attention and patience, and to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office for their hard work and support.”

Majors had previously appeared in Marvel productions such as Loki and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. His appearances as part of The Kang Dynasty seemed like Marvel was building up to a grand vision of The Kang Dynasty being a great threat in the MCU. With their parting ways from Majors, many plans regarding the MCU could potentially see change. Of particular note is Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, slated for release in 2026, which was likely planned to be a catalyst for events much the same as Avengers: Infinity War.

The sentencing for Majors is scheduled for February 6, 2024, where he could face up to a year in prison for the assault conviction. The harassment violation could also add up to 15 extra days to that prison time, along with a $250 fine.
