The 'Highlander' Reboot Officially Has A Start Date For Filming
A cinematic legend is returning, as Chad Stahelski is getting ready to shoot The Highlander in Scotland. The film will begin shooting in Scotland in January 2025, and Henry Cavill stars. Location scouting has likely been finished, but production is still some way off. In the meantime, The Highlander promises some of Stahelski’s action style seen in the John Wick series, with cinematic sword fights balancing it all out. Stahelski has mostly filmed gunfights, making the transition to sword fights a change to be sure. Stahelisk has said that there was excitement for his newest project, we shall see if it transitions to the fan reaction.
The Highlander was a British-American film directed by Russell Mulcahy. Starring Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod, the film centered around a millennia-long battle between immortals for “The Prize”, in which there can be only one winner. The film spawned sequels of varying quality and a successful TV series starring Adrian Paul as Duncan MacLeod. Given the less-than-stellar track record regarding sequels, it’s interesting to see how Chad Stahelski will reboot the franchise. Will it take inspiration from the original, or forge its own path? Only time will tell what happens next.
