This Is What Fans Could Expect To See In ‘Armored Core VI’
Armored Core VI is on the horizon, with fans of the series assured that this new sequel will stay authentic to what they love about it.
The last release of an Armored Core game was in 2013 with Verdict Day, where the series had seen at least one new game almost every year since the series first started in 1997. So it was a massive surprise to see a new one be announced. But after such a long time, would the series’ core identity be changed?

That doesn’t appear to be the case, with the trailer showcasing a lot of mech beatings and explosions. Now, further information has come from game director Masaru Yamamura and FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki that aims to reassure fans this is more of what they love but better. Intense mech battles and the customisation of those mechs are still the primary focus, allowing players to find a style that suits them and obliterate the enemies throughout the game’s various missions.
It doesn’t matter if you haven’t played earlier games of the series, as the story of this one will not be connected to those earlier games. Boss battles are said to be a highlight of the game, which is to be expected from the developer of Dark Souls and Elden Ring. The game will also have a versus mode, though multiplayer isn’t said to be a focus. While it will very much be an Armored Core game, the two acknowledged that in the ten years since the last game, the studio’s style has changed. There’s not going to feel such a drastic direction shift for fans of their latest games.
Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon will arrive sometime next year on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows.
