Gene Hackman, His Wife, And Dog Found Dead

On February 27th, it was announced that we had lost one of the best to ever step in front of a camera.
Gene Hackman, his wife of 34 years, Betsy Arakawa, and one of their dogs were found dead in their New Mexico home. A maintenance worker arrived to do routine work and saw that the front door was open. He quickly called the police when he discovered the bodies. No official cause of death has been determined, but authorities have ruled out foul play. No concrete theory has been released to the public, though carbon monoxide poisoning was also ruled out.
Hackman was one of the most well-respected actors in Hollywood during his life. He retired from acting in 2004 after Welcome to Mooseport, though his final onscreen appearance was in a 2008 episode of Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. He is most well known for his roles as Jimmy “Popeye” Doyle in The French Connection and as Sheriff “Little Bill” Daggett in Unforgiven, both of which landed him Oscar wins. He also had successful roles in Bonnie and Clyde, The Conversation, and the Poseidon Adventure, among countless other roles. He was an actor who took every job seriously and never gave a half-hearted performance.
Though, for my money, his role as the blind man in Young Frankenstein will always be a highlight.
He is survived by his children and grandchildren. Hackman was 95 at the time of his death.
Rest in peace to a true legend.
