Tom Holland Talks About Not Repeating Things in 'Spider-Man 4'

It has been several years since Tom Holland last brought his version of Peter Parker to the silver screen in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). The actor has had a few roles during the in-between time, including Nathan Drake in Uncharted (2022) and Charlie in Last Call (2022). Attention is returning to his famous role, and the actor has opened up about how they are moving forward. In an interview with Deadline during a golfing tournament in Scotland, Holland discussed what the future holds for his iteration of the popular web-slinger and the direction of future movies.

Holland reaffirmed his passion and commitment to the role itself, “The simple answer is that I’ll always want to do Spider-Man films. I owe my life and career to Spider-Man. So the simple answer is yes. I’ll always want to do more.” Things are still somewhere in the very early writing stages at the moment; Holland explained, “We have the best in the business working toward whatever the story might be. But until we’ve cracked it, we have a legacy to protect.” Creating new content is not something they want to rush. He continued, “The third movie was so special in so many ways that we need to make sure we do the right thing.”

He wrapped up the subject in the following statement:

“This is the first time in this process that I’ve been part of the creative so early. It’s just a process where I’m watching and learning. It’s just a really fun stage for me. Like I said, everyone wants it to happen. But we want to make sure we’re not overdoing the same things.”

Spider-Man: No Way Home had a box office revenue of about $1.92 billion worldwide; in a post-pandemic theater market, this is a particularly significant achievement. The film follows Peter Parker in a world that now knows his secret identity. A mishap with a spell leads to an intense multiversal crossover and the loss of his identity as Peter comes to a new understanding of what it means to be a hero. The first two Tom Holland-led films can be streamed on Disney+, while the third can be rented from major retailers.
