In a long-awaited reveal, an article on Gizmodo, published on the morning of January 28th, revealed the stunning cover art for the final novel of The High Republic publishing initiative!

Author Charles Soule outlined some new information regarding the novel in an attached statement. He has also been incredibly transparent about the workload over social media for several months. He describes the novel as an epic with incredible stakes and great challenges for the Jedi Order.

He also notes it is the big finale, weaving together elements from a lot of the content that has been produced over the past four years across many different media, but it is also still written as accessible to a newcomer to the Star Wars universe. This approach was also a trait Soule exemplified in the first novel of The High Republic, Light of the Jedi, writing that novel as an introduction to Star Wars, but also for what was at the time, a new era of the Star Wars timeline. Soule notes the pressure of wrapping everything up and how it has been an honor and a privilege to do so.

The High Republic has been lauded by its fans and has seen expansion beyond the publishing-focused origins of the project. The era played a notable role in Jedi: Survivor’s story, it featured in details of the world from Star Wars Outlaws, and it also had a whole series, The Acolyte, set in the same period. Even with the formal publishing initiative wrapping up, it is a certainty we will get more High Republic stories in the future as the era is now deeply linked to the wider Star Wars universe.

Even so, Trials of the Jedi is sure to be a nail-biting read, with the fates of many fan-beloved characters hanging in the balance—the novel releases on June 17th, 2025.
